Daylesford Morning, Wildlife Afternoon
The last day of the Easter school holidays — venues will be at their busiest. We've saved Hidcote for tomorrow when things quieten, and put the less time-sensitive stops here. A gentle morning at Daylesford Organic, one of the finest farm shops in England. Dog-friendly throughout. Afternoon at the Wildlife Park if the family wants animals — but the dog cannot enter.

Hidcote & the Farm Park
Schools return on Monday so post-Easter weekend crowds are easing. A morning at Hidcote Manor Garden — one of England's finest Arts and Crafts gardens, structured into a series of outdoor "rooms" in April bloom — followed by Cotswold Farm Park for the afternoon. Pre-book both. Note: the Farm Park bans dogs entirely due to active lambing — the dog must stay at the cottage for the afternoon session.

Through the Peak District to the Lakes
Around 4.5 hours total, broken with a proper lunch stop in Bakewell — the handsome Peak District market town on the River Wye. Make it a real break: stroll the river, try the original Bakewell pudding (not tart), and let everyone stretch their legs before the second leg north to Keswick.

Cat Bells & Derwentwater
Schools return across England today, so the Lake District noticeably quietens from this morning onwards. Cat Bells is the quintessential family fell walk — compact, rewarding, with spectacular views over Derwentwater from the 451m summit. The dog will be in its element. Afternoon by the lake.

Grasmere & Dove Cottage
Dove Cottage opens Tuesday to Saturday only between January and June. Tuesday is the quietest day — post-Easter, post-school-return. A morning in Grasmere and at Dove Cottage. This is also the last full day in the Lakes, so the afternoon should be a proper send-off: the Ullswater Steamers are the headline option.

The Long Road South
The drive home — around 5 hours from the Lake District to Bracknell. A Wednesday return is one of the quieter options on the M6 south: no Sunday traffic, no bank holiday rush. Take a morning walk before you leave, stop properly at Tebay Services, and you'll be back in Bracknell by evening with the trip still intact in the memory.
